EXHIBITION STATEMENT:
There is no single truth. We formulate our own individual truths based upon a combination of our experiences, fact, fiction, mythology, and omission.
"The Absurdity of Color" exhibition features works by Lee McVetta completed in 2023 that explore the associative or symbolic nature of color and how it contributes to our interpretation of meaning and "individual truth." Topics touch upon history, art history, entertainment, race, environment, gender identity, etc. The works are intended to lead the viewer to make continuous connections across the full spectrum of works to formulate deeper meanings and personal interpretations of my intent as the artist as well as reflect on their own personal beliefs... and perhaps consider that we sometimes are quick to draw conclusions when reality is far more complex.
Lee’s Featured Artist Exhibit will be available for viewing in the CAL Art Gallery from October 11th to November 8th.
